The international special exhibition "Genghis Khan: How the Mongols Changed the World" officially opened to the public on June 25, 2026, at the Royal Armouries Museum in Leeds, United Kingdom.

The Chinggis Khaan National Museum has previously successfully organized international special exhibitions promoting Mongolia's history and cultural heritage in countries such as France, the Czech Republic, Switzerland, Japan, and Italy. This exhibition marks another major event in showcasing Mongolia's cultural heritage on the world stage.

At the opening ceremony, Academician S. Chuluun, Director of the Chinggis Khaan National Museum, emphasized that "the exhibition presents, on a scientific and historical basis, the contributions of Chinggis Khaan and his descendants to human history." He noted that the exhibition also highlights the unique cultural heritage of Mongolia's nomadic civilization while showcasing the collaborative achievements of Mongolian and international scholars.

A total of 437 artifacts across 255 sets are on display, drawn from the collections of Mongolian museums and research institutions. This includes contributions from: the Chinggis Khaan National Museum, the National Museum of Mongolia, the Institute of Archaeology of the Mongolian Academy of Sciences, the Zanabazar Museum of Fine Arts, the Kharkhorin Museum, the Dundgovi Province Museum, and the Zavkhan Province Museum.

The successful collaboration between the Chinggis Khaan National Museum and the Royal Armouries Museum, one of the United Kingdom's most prestigious museums, represents a significant achievement in cultural and scientific cooperation between the two countries and marks an important milestone in the history of their friendly relations.

The opening ceremony was attended by B. Sergelen, Advisor to the President of Mongolia on Cultural and Religious Policy, B. Davaatseren, Head of the Cultural Heritage Department of the Ministry of Culture, Sports, Tourism, and Youth, Academician S. Chuluun, Director of the Chinggis Khaan National Museum, D. Otgonsuren, Director of the National Museum of Mongolia, along with other official representatives.

The exhibition will remain open to European audiences until November 1, 2026. The Royal Armouries Museum houses the UK's national collection of arms and armor and is considered one of the largest and most prestigious collections of its kind in the world.
